Arts and Sciences
Members of the SCA practice many arts, sciences, and past-times of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, both to broaden their knowledge, and to enhance the atmosphere at Society events. They do this through research, study and practice, and will often share their results with others via collegia, symposiums, workshops, practices and informal gatherings at any event. You can often find people sewing, doing embroidery, or making maille while sitting watching a tourney or waiting for court to begin.
The current Baronial A&S Challenge is Nice Little Touches: the Southron Gaard "Persona Gubbins" A&S Challenge. This runs until Baronial Anniversary LIV and is brought to you by Meisterin Christian Baier, Baroness Isabel Maria del Aguila, Lady Amabillia Threxton, under the gracious patronage of Her Excellency Baroness Ginevra.
Our previous Baronial A&S Challenge was The Southron Gaard Heraldic Challenge. This ran from Baronial Anniversary AS LII till Baronial Anniversary LIII and was coordinated by Richard and Ginevra, Baron and Baroness of Southron Gaard. This was in appreciation for heraldic display, and the high standards of inventiveness seen amongst the populace, and was the Third Baronial Heraldic Challenge of its type.
Another previous Baronial A&S challenge was the The Baronial Variety Pentathlon Challenge. This ran from Baronial Anniversary AS LI till Baronial Anniversary AS LII, and details of this challenge can be viewed online here.
