Baronial Succession

As per the announcement of Baron Richard and Baroness Ginevra, that they have the Crown’s leave to step down from their role at Canterbury Faire 2020 after 4 years in the role. As Seneschal, I have been asked to proceed in assisting the Crown with conducting the application process for the selection of new crown representatives for the Barony of Southron Gaard.

As such, application for this role open October 4th and will continue until midnight October 25th 2019.

Once applications have closed, the applications will be forwarded to the Crown, who will confirm they are happy with the applicants to stand, and once this is done, it will be opened to the populace for commentary, and to meet with and discuss with the applicants.

Once the commentary period is over, the Crown will consider and make their decision. From there, they will inform the successful candidates directly, and contact the other candidates. The Crown’s decision will then be announced at the next appropriate Royal Court and then published in the Barony’s newsletter.

Please send your applications through to seneschal@sg.lochac.sca.org

Southron Gaard

Welcome to the Barony of Southron Gaard, wherein you may step back in time to fight with chivalry, dance with grace, feast with gusto or pursue the diverse activities that enriched the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

Southron Gaard is based in the South Island of New Zealand (principally in Christchurch, Dunedin and now in Timaru and Nelson) and is a branch of the international non-profit educational organisation, the Society for Creative Anachronism, New Zealand (SCANZ).

The SCA is dedicated to the research and recreation of pre-17th century European history, with a particular focus on its practical applications in arts and sciences, including costuming, cooking, martial arts, dance, calligraphy and illumination, metalwork, archery, music and much, much more.

See the box at right for to-the-minute information on current activities.
