Booking and Payment

Before booking, please check the Faire Schedule and Food Options to ensure that you are aware of what is available and what you need to book for.

If you have any special requirements, such as assistance with bedding or billeting before and/or after the Faire, please note this on the booking form in the appropriate space, or contact the

Please use the online booking form below to ensure you make the right payment for all the things you need. Some things need to be booked before January 15, and there are site discounts for early booking, depending on when you pay.

You will not be booked for Canterbury Faire until you have submitted the online booking form and received confirmation from us. Chatty emails and phone calls to the Steward are fine, but we need to have your form in our hands before your booking will be considered completed.

Quick reference for CF 2009

Full site cost for adults, Mon-Sun: $60-$80 -- discounts for booking early!
Children (12 and under), Mon-Sun: $40-$60 (ditto)
Sat 31st & Sun 1st (casual camping/setup) for adult/child: add $10/$7 (covers both days)
Single day costs Mon-Sun for adult/child: $8/$5
Single overnight costs Mon-Sat for adult/child: (add) $6/$3
Feast for adults/children: $20/$12 OR Hafla: $9 (any age) -- SORRY - THESE ARE NOW FULLY BOOKED
Meal plan Mon-Sat for adults/children: $60/$35
Tent hire: $10
T-shirt: $20 (book before January 15)
Tent space: no charge
Bunkrooms: no charge (preference given to travellers and families)

There is a $2 event membership fee for anyone 18 or over who is not a member of the SCANZ Inc or an affiliated organisation (e.g. SCA Australia or SCA Inc). Members, please show your membership card when you check in at the gatehouse on arrival. Your receipt, if you request one, will be issued on arrival.

First Saturday and Sunday of the event

Saturday Jan 31 and Sunday Feb 1 are casual camping/setup days. If you intend to book for these, please bear in mind:

  • Site opens at 4pm Saturday, not before!
  • Until 2pm Monday, a non-SCA group will be using the upper level of the site, containing the Great Hall, Royal Ward and Quarters. Please avoid that area unless you have explicit approval from the steward.
  • The meal plan does not cover these two days, but a soup kitchen open to everyone on site will be run on Sunday evening.

Please note: While the event site can cater for hundreds, bookings for the feast and tents often fill up quickly, and bookings for the meal plan are capped at 150, so do not delay.

Payment

All payments are to be received in full by January 23, 2009 unless prior arrangements have been made with the steward.

If you are from outside New Zealand, the CF Booking form can show prices in $A or $US and we can accept personal cheques from either country without difficulty - bank cheques or $NZ conversion are not required. A mailing address for cheques will be included in your emailed booking confirmation.

If you have a New Zealand bank account and would like to pay for Canterbury Faire by internet payment (direct credit), here are the details.

When you pay electronically, you MUST complete the references that appear on the Payee's bank statement (our bank statement, not yours) as follows:

First reference (usually called the particulars): Your BOOKING number from the form, e.g. CF37545
Second reference (usually called the code): Your surname
Third reference (if available): The number of adults and children being paid for, eg 2/3 for 2 adults and 3 children.

The bank account will be checked periodically for transactions by the Reeve. Notification will then be sent if we have your email address. If you have paid electronically, and haven't heard from us within a week, please email the Faire Bookings Steward: THL Taddea.
