HERALD: Corresponded with members of the populace requesting information for how to go about making name and/or device submissions and resubmissions Spent some time in spurious research looking at how other kingdoms organise their OPs, i.e. if alphabetically for tiebreakers, by first or last name. First name seems popular. Having seen the honour included in the SG OP for two persons, sent out requests to populace for others who had served as Queen's guards or Ladies in waiting to identify themselves so that this could be added to their awards. Inquired of Katje, Herald to Their outgoing Majesties Alfar and Gudrun, what might have become of the awards given out by the same at Midwinter Coronation. Was directed to Her Excellency Bethan, Canon Herald, and the Pegasus editor. Am currently awaiting a reply from either of those worthies. Attended a Canterbury Faire planning meeting. Discussed ways of snaring volunteer Heralds to perform some duties at the event. MARSHAL: Practices going well. No major issues. CAPTAIN OF ARCHERS: Practices going well. Getting better weather now. Good shoot at fimbulwinter. CAPTAIN OF RAPIER: Practices going well. Checked out the 1300AD guys at the market. Seem to have a good turnaround time for stuff ordered from overseas. Stuff for Pegasus forwarded to Roland, as it needs to come from our seneschal due to adminstrative reasons. Will be sending begging email for staff to SG discuss and other lists when booking form goes live. COLLEGIUM: All going well. A few timetable alterations. More people than expected, so definitely covering costs. GENERAL BUSINESS: ELLESMERE A&P SHOW: - On again this year on October 13. Interest in going again, but with a tent on the main strip, with small list field next to it. - Possible idea of having a period 'demo' pavilion with period encampment set up inside it for people to look at. - Should do a muster 2 weeks later to catch people's attention RAPIER TRAINING KITS: - Emrys has sourced rapier training kits. Includes 10 sets of rapier simulators and appropriate head protection (not SCA rapier legal), as well as a 10 lesson instructional kit. - Ildhafn to field test the kits. Will get Emrys' opinion on the kits before any further decisions made. EVENT PROPOSALS: - Middle Eastern Hafla & repast in November/December by Lord Dauid. Approx budget for 40 people, -$15 for adults, $10 for kids. - Dauid to email financial committee with finalised details. - Emilio considering a ball in late November/December. - Both parties to talk to Scott about running their event at the same possible time as the SCANZ AGM. MARSHAL HELMS: - Bartholomew has investigated chapel-de-fers for the marshals to use as sun hats. - Sourced from Wellington, spun steel helms originally made for Wellington medieval groups. - $41 each for 5 aluminium helms, or $46 for steel helms. - Aluminium helmets for weight and also rust proof. - Barony to get five (2 to go down south). - Personal orders for more steel ones. MOTORHOME CAMP: - Althea's parents in a campervan/motorhome association. Will be having a camp at the Leeston showgrounds on March 7/8th. Would be keen for us to come along and camp (on the other side of the campground) in exchange for them seeing what we do/demos and joining in a feast with us. They are offering to pay the site fees and the feast fees. - This will have to be run as an event, so will advertise for event steward and see if anyone is keen. SUNSHADE CONSTRUCTION: - Possible idea of barony acquiring more sun shades. - Kutwells currently has 40-50m of 150cm wide $5/m thick canvas set aside for us - Much discussion on whether the Barony should own more sunshades (and hence take care of them) or people should own them privately. - Decided that the Barony should buy the fabric now and we can decide later on who is to make and own the resulting sunshades. GATE/LIST TENTS: Question about where the gate/list tents currently are as the quartermaster doesn't have them. Several people seem to think they are in the CF storage unit. MEETING CLOSED 8:24PM.
