Welcome to Southron Gaard
Unto the Populace of Southron Gaard, Their Majesties, King Steffan and Queen Branwen have requested that the timeline for choosing successors for Baron Isabel Maria and Baron Oswyn be as follows:
- Nominations open immediately and will close 4 October. Nominations should be sent to myself (email@example.com) and Their Excellencies (firstname.lastname@example.org). You can nominate someone else if you like, and we will contact them to confirm they will accept the nomination.
- Nominations will be sent to the Crown no later than 6 October.
- The Poll will open on 8 October and close midnight 31 October.
- The Crown will make their decision and contact all candidates prior to announcing the successors at November Crown - 7 November.
Therefore - nominations are open from now until 4 October.
During the nomination period nominees are to discuss with the incumbent Baron and Baroness their roles, plans and fitness for office. Nominees may withdraw at any time within this period. All nominees must provide a letter of intent describing themselves and giving a brief history of their time in the SCA and their plans should they be selected to take office as Baron and Baroness, which will be published to the Barony.
NB: Nominees must be paid members of the Society when they take office. Nominees do not have to be resident within the boundaries of the Barony so long as they can show that they can fulfil the duties of the office and can demonstrate a history of active participation within the group.

Welcome to the Barony of Southron Gaard, wherein you may step back in time to fight with chivalry, dance with grace, feast with gusto or pursue the diverse activities that enriched the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Southron Gaard is based in the South Island of New Zealand (principally in Christchurch, Dunedin and now in Timaru) and is a branch of the international non-profit educational organisation, the Society for Creative Anachronism, New Zealand (SCANZ).
The SCA is dedicated to the research and recreation of pre-17th century European history, with a particular focus on its practical applications in arts and sciences, including costuming, cooking, martial arts, dance, calligraphy and illumination, metalwork, archery, music and much, much more.
See the box at right for to-the-minute information on current activities.
